A Las Vegas man’s daughter and her boyfriend plotted his death, according to an arrest report that describes the victim being stabbed nearly 40 times at his home.
Jose Martinez, 19, and his 17-year-old girlfriend were charged with murder Monday after the body of the girl’s father, Jaime Meza, was found at the house on San Marcos Street near Carey Avenue.
Police said the girl’s grandmother found Meza’s body.
The daughter, who hasn’t been identified because of her age, told police Martinez was outside the home waiting for her to sneak out, according to the report.
In an interview with detectives, Martinez said Meza abused his daughter, and the two were confronted by Meza while sneaking back into the house to retrieve some belongings, police said.
Martinez, according to police, said he grabbed a knife and tried to stab Meza, but claimed he blacked out and the next thing he remembered was standing over Meza’s bloody body.
Detectives said they were then tipped by an anonymous person who said the slaying had been planned by the girl.
Police learned the girl planned to open the front door to her house to let Martinez in to commit the killing, and Martinez had been asking friends for help to do it, according to the report.
After being confronted with the new information, police said Martinez admitted the girl asked him to help kill Meza because the father was abusive.
The girl, he claimed in the report, contacted him early Monday morning, telling him her father was asleep.
Martinez then attacked Meza in his sleep as the girl locked the door and covered the bottom of the door, the report said.
In the report, detectives said Meza had been stabbed about 30 times with a retractable 3-inch blade, which was later recovered at the scene.
After confronting the girl with Martinez’s statement, and she asked for an attorney, the arrest report said. She was arrested on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Martinez was also charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and burglary with a deadly weapon.
